Young Rockers to perform on Jefferson Township Day

As always, there will be continuous live entertainment on the main stage this July 12 during the 22nd annual Jefferson Township Day event at the Jefferson Township High School field at 1010 Weldon Road in Oak Ridge.  But holding true to its commitment to address the needs of the young people of the township as well as the young-at-heart, the Jefferson Arts Committee is proud to present six young adult bands who will be playing the music that their peers as well as many adults enjoy listening to on the stage located under a white tent on the field of the high school.

Starting at 1 pm, Insouciant will perform their post-punk indie folk music.  Adam Kaniper’s on guitar and bass as is Anna O’Sullivan, John Fisher plays drums, and Bryan Kwasnik is on a Wurlitzer.  The band is almost done recording a new CD, and they just have to put some polish on it. For a preview of their music, log on to www.myspace.com/insouciantmusic

At 1:45 pm, Skies on Fire, a fun four-piece, extremely attractive death metal band who like candlelit dinners, long walks on the beach, foot massages, pool parties, pizza parties, and party blowers will perform.  They started up in 2004 and disbanded right after Jefferson Day 2004. But now, they're back and better looking than ever! With Chris Coffey on drums and vocals, Eddie Cuddy on vocals and guitar, Andy Chesonis on bass, high pitches and woah's, and Kyle Nelson shredding the gnar, you'll find yourself dancing.  Log on to www.myspace.com/skiesonfirenj for a preview.

*64 (that’s star sixty four) take the stage at 2:30 pm playing alternative/punk. The members are Mike Russo - Vocals/Guitar, Pat Coffey - Vocals/Drums, Ant Ferarra - Bass, and Matt Micieli - Guitar. The band itself has been around for four years, but the current line-up is about a year old. They’ve played some basement parties and will be playing at some graduation parties. *64 has a instrumental song you can hear for yourself at  www.myspace.com/starsix4

Above All Fallen is next to perform at 3:15 pm with Josh Collins on Vocals, Paul Regensburg and Billy Reines on guitar, Sean Farrelly on bass, and Jason Pantone on drums. The Jefferson Day veterans are a fun-loving band known throughout the local area. Expect sing-a longs and high fives at this Jefferson Day performance. Check out their tunes at http://myspace.com/aboveallfallen

At 4 pm, the five-piece Pop Punk/Hardcore band Stop the Clock will be performing. Members include Brian Thompson on bass, Sean Farrelly on drums, Tom Fett on guitar/vocals, Steve Gough on vocals, and Ray Farrelly on vocals. Stop The Clock formed last spring; and their main goal is to hang out, play shows, and have fun. They draw influences from a wide variety of music such as pop punk, hardcore, and metal. Visit www.myspace.com/stoptheclocknj for more information on the group.

At 4:45 pm, Static Channel’s Mike Kaschak on guitar/vocals, Steve Bandura on guitar, Arj on vocals, Louis Bachigalopo on bass/vocals, along with Devin Esposito on drums will perform their punk/hardcore music.  The band has been together for about a two and a half years.

So, be sure to stop by the small stage under the white tent on the field of the Jefferson Township High School to hear some alternative music to the other great live entertainment appearing on the main stage. Be sure to also check out the 24-foot rock climbing wall and a laser tag field set up for play in the area of the young rockers’ stage between sets.  Great fun awaits everyone this year!
