The Jefferson Township Parade Line Up is a Go!

Jefferson Township Day XXII is quickly approaching, and Parade Chairpersons Jeanne Hantson and Betty Eastman have announced the line up for the 11 am parade on Saturday, July 12 along Weldon Road: Town Crier Bill Joseph, the Jefferson Township Police, the Jefferson Township Golden Falcons High School Marching Band, invited guests and township dignitaries including the 2007 Mayor’s Citizens of the Year Doris Roberts and Cliff Williams will lead the parade.

Participants in The Jefferson Arts Committee’s Decorated Box Parade (to be judged by the Joseph F. Lamb Knights of Columbus Council #5510), Mr. Manners on his tricycle, Boy Scouts of American Pack 49, Loving and Learning Christian Child Care, Morris County Dance Academy, Sunshine Child Care Center, Diane’s School of Dance, and Oak Ridge Martial Arts will be participating in the parade this year. Also look for The Neighborhood Critters, the Jefferson Township Recreational Cheerleaders, the Morris County Mounted Police, the Military Transport Association of New Jersey, The Milton Cruisers, NJSPCA, and Smokey Bear and the NJ Forest Fire Service. The annual parade would not be complete with the blasting sirens of the shiny trucks belonging to Jefferson Township Fire Company No. 1 and No. 2, the Jefferson Rescue Squad, and the Milton First Aid Squad.

The road will be closed by the Jefferson Township Police Department at approximately 10:30 am so plan your arrival allowing plenty of time to park and/or drop off parade participants, and everyone must adhere to the directions of the Police and the Jefferson Arts Committee parade marshals who will be wearing bright lime-colored tee shirts to make themselves easily identifiable. No parking will be allowed on Weldon Road before or during the parade.

So come one and all and enjoy an old-fashioned town parade. Marchers, vehicles, and floats will be leaving from the vicinity of the Jefferson Township Municipal Building located at 1033 Weldon Road and marching up to the Jefferson Township High School field. A review stand will be set up on Weldon Road in front of the main entrance to the high school building where JAC President Carol Punturieri will make announcements identifying the parade participants and providing general event information.

Following the opening ceremonies to be held on the main stage on the high school field, continuous live entertainment, arts/crafts/merchandise vendors, food vendors, Irish road bowling, demonstrations, children’s games and activities, the rock climbing wall, laser tag games, and more will begin for all to enjoy.

Remember, in the evening following a concert under the stars featuring the Jefferson Township Community Band and Chorus, you’ll enjoy the best aerial fireworks display you’ve ever seen!
