Children's Fishing Contest to continue at Jefferson Township Day

For many years, Bill Clark was a familiar face at the Morris County Pond on Weldon Road during the annual fishing contest held in conjunction with Jefferson Township Day helping children bait their lines, measuring and weighing their catch, and awarding prizes. Although Bill recently passed away, F.S. Burroughs/North Jersey Trout Unlimited will continue the tradition and host this very popular children's fishing contest on Saturday, July 14, 2007 from 1 to 3 PM at the newly named pond – the Weldon Road Fishing Education Pond, located across the street from the Jefferson Township High School.

The contest is open to boys and girls up to 15 years of age, and pre-registration is not necessary nor is there any fee to participate. Children must, however, bring their own bait and fishing equipment; and the catch and release program will be in force. Prizes awarded will include grand prizes for the first, second, and third largest fish caught in each age group.
