Frances Hodgson Burnett, who also wrote the popular books “A Secret Garden” and “Little Lord Fauntleroy”, tells the story of Sara Crewe, who is placed at Miss Minchin’s boarding school while her widowed father returns to India on an exploratory mission. Although Sara is taunted by students who are jealous of her wealth and good manners, and given the mocking nickname of “Princess Sara”, she adopts the name as a reminder to be good and generous to others. When tragedies befall Sara, she overcomes adversity and mistreatment to triumph through her kindess and imagination.
