Step Back in Time as the British "invade" Jefferson Township Day
Saturday, July 9 marks the 25th anniversary of Jefferson Township Day; and this year, the Jefferson Arts Committee is pulling out all the stops!
Following a day of fun, food, entertainment, activities, and shopping, this year’s evening concert promises to have you on your feet dancing or at least singing along. You’re sure to enjoy The Robert Murdock Band’s performance at 7:30 pm as the band presents The British Invasion Tribute, a unique and nostalgic musical experience. With their authentic vintage clothing and musical arrangements, the band takes audiences on a memorable trip back in time, as if you were attending a concert from a bygone era. The performance will be on the main stage on the field of the Jefferson Township High School, 1010 Weldon Road in Oak Ridge, NJ.
The British Invasion Tribute is actually three shows in one and an experience that the whole family can enjoy! The first show includes songs by iconic British groups such as The Zombies, Dave Clark Five, The Rolling Stones, The Hollies, Herman's Hermits, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Manfred Mann, and many more. The American Response follows with music by such legendary artists as The Monkees, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, The Mamas and The Papas, The Turtles, and The Byrds, just to name just a few. This journey through the 1960s concludes with an extraordinary note-for-note rendition of Side B of The Beatles' Abbey Road album that you definitely won't want to miss.
There’s free admission to the field until 5:30 pm so come early with a lawn chair or blanket, have dinner at one of the food vendor booths, and get an upfront spot to see the show. Free parking all day and evening, handicap parking with decal.
Following the concert, just stay where you are but look upwards for a huge aerial fireworks display that will light up the skies of Jefferson Township and beyond like never seen before!
