Christmas in the Village beckons one and all to share holiday spirit!
The Jefferson Arts Committee will host the fifth annual Christmas in the Village event on Saturday, December 4 from 10 am to 4 pm in the vicinity of the Jefferson Township Museum on Dover-Milton Road in the Milton/Oak Ridge section of Jefferson Township.
The Jefferson Arts Committee is scheduling live entertainment in the Jefferson Township Fire Company No. 1’s firehouse, 152 Milton Road, including performances by members of Diane’s School of Dance and Dance Academy of North Jersey. Vendors including to date home businesses Mary Kay, Krumb Kups, Tastefully Simple, Lia Sophia, and Pampered Chef and craft vendors including SES Sports, Burek Ornaments, Pretty Trinket/Cuddle Stuff, and Treasure Cookie Jewelry will be offering items for sale. Start Christmas shopping! The Fire Company No. 1’s Ladies Auxiliary will open their kitchen and serve lunch, snacks, and refreshments. The site will also be the display area for the Arts Committee’s Grandma’s Cookie Contest, Gingerbread House Contest, and the new Aunt Debbie’s Pie Contest.
Live entertainment and soup, sandwiches, and refreshments are being scheduled at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church located across the street from the firehouse and will include to date the band and choruses of White Rock and Arthur Stanlick Elementary Schools, the Jefferson Township Middle School and High School Bands, and a holiday musical performance by the Jefferson Township Community Band. Vendor tables will include a bake sale by the Junior Woman’s Club and live holiday wreaths by the Jefferson Township High School Band Parents. Continue Christmas shopping!
The Jefferson Township Historical Society will open the doors of the Jefferson Township Museum at 315 Dover Milton Road for “A Storybook Christmas at the Chamberlain House” from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday with tours, music, and holiday decorations. The Jefferson Community Players will present a holiday inspired teddy-bear themed performance at the Jefferson Township Senior Center at 54 Schoolhouse Road with performance times TBA.
Prior to the actual Christmas in the Village events on Saturday, the Jefferson Township Recreation Department will conduct the annual lighting of the township Christmas tree at the gazebo in the Municipal Complex beginning at 7 pm. The Jefferson Township Middle School Chorus will perform, the Mayor’s 2010 Citizens of the Year will throw the switch to light up the tree and the entire municipal complex, and Santa will arrive via fire truck! The annual Menorah Lighting will be held on Saturday evening, December 4th at 7 pm in the municipal complex with entertainment and refreshments afterwards.
The holiday spirit will continue on Sunday, December 5th when the Jefferson Township Community Chorus presents its holiday concert “The Heavens at the Holidays” at St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church at 5635 Berkshire Valley Road in Milton/Oak Ridge at 3 pm.
